You can use our studio to record your audiobook in a private setting.

Podcast City can record your audiobook to ACX standards, we can record, edit, mix and give you back your audio files so you can upload your audiobook to streaming platforms such as Audible, Apple Books, Google Books and other platforms.

Our studio is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you can record at a time that suits you.

Most people find the best time to record audiobooks is after hours or early in the morning, but you have the option to record any time there is available time.

To record an audiobook you need to ensure its record to ACX standards and requirements. 

ACX is a marketplace where authors, literary agents, publishers, and other Rights Holders can connect with narrators, engineers, recording studios, and other Producers capable of producing a finished audiobook.

Unfortunately, we can't give you a precise cost as every narrator reads at different speeds and have different requirements, also you must take into consideration if you are not a professional narrator or a first-time narrator mistakes will happen and will need to be re-recorded this will slow down your recording time.

We suggest that if you want us to edit your audiobook that we do it as you go this will save you time and money and ensure a better recording.

But we are able to give you a guide.

Studio Time Only

As an estimate, if you are looking to record a 30,000 to 40,000-word book you will more than likely need 6 to 10 hours of studio time at a rate of $86.00 per hour.

This will come in at a cost of roughly between

6x  hours of Studio time  = $516.00

10x hours of studio time  = $860.00

Editing of Your Audiobook

If you would like Podcast City to edit your audiobook so that it sounds consistent and clear, we suggest that you edit it as you record, of course, we will also edit and master in post-recording to ensure that everything sounds fine and ready for release.

The way your recording session will work if you want us to edit is, you'll receive two hours of recording time this will be one hour of audio recording and one hour of editing rolled into one. 

Our editing cost is $75 for audiobooks for up to 1 hour of recording time, 

We edit your audiobook as you are recording and also after you leave we will check over what you have recorded and edit anything that needs to be fixed.

Estimate Total Rate of Editing Time per hour of audio.

This will come in at a cost of roughly between

6x  of editing time  = $450.00

10x of editing time = $750.00

Estimate Total Rate of Studio Time and Editing per 2 hours of studio time in the same recording session.

6x  of studio and editing time  = $483.00

10x of studio and editing time  = $805,00

The editing process takes approximately 2 weeks to complete after all record is complete, however, if we edit as we go this time may be reduced.

We suggest bringing an iPad or tablet with you to read from, this reduces unwanted noises in the recording.

If you do not have a tablet we can provide one for you, we can also have your audiobook on our large TV monitor to read from as well.

Please also provide a PDF copy of your book emailed to us before your session so the sound engineer can follow up with you.

At the end of each session, we will send you over what you have recorded in a raw format.

We suggest you go over this in case there are any changes you need to make.

After you have finished recording your whole audiobook and it has been edited and mastered to ACX standards we will email this over to you by WeTransfer this is a secure system to which only you have access, we keep your files in a secure system for 12  months in case you need to retrieve them.

However, we always recommend saving this to your computer hard drive and onto a USB drive as well for backup.

After you have received your final book we ask you to listen to it to make sure you are happy with everything, please take notes of anything you would like to re-record, omitted or changed.

Podcast City can advise you and give you guidance on how to release your audiobook.

At Podcast City we want to make you feel as comfortable as possible, that’s why we give you 15 minutes preparation time so that you can prepare before you record so you don’t have to rush and this is provided at no additional cost, there is always a sound engineer on hand to record your audio on our equipment.

We offer complimentary hot and cold beverages and the use of our TV monitors with Apple TV and Chromecast.

And you don’t need to worry about keeping time we have a large clock on our display screen so you know exactly how long you have recorded for and how much studio time you'll have left.

We offer complimentary photos with our iPhone’s during your recording so that you can use them on social media websites or wherever you wish to use them.
